Turoa CD plan 'item of urgency'
Turoa' s civil defence safety plan is still being sought by the Ruapehu District Council civil defence subcommittee. The subcommittee met last month and resolved that "every endeavour be made by Council to seek compliance by Turoa Ski Resort in the production of a Safety Plan for their area of operation." Members of the subcommittee said the
situation had been "allowed to go on far too long and was totally unacceptable in that human safety was involved." Chairman Chris Ryan said the subject was not on the meeting agenda because "it had been expected that Turoa Ski Resort would have complied with the request." The group agreed that councillor Ellen Gould would pursue the matter "through local contacts".
