Turoa

If winter wasn't enough, or if you just want a taste of a different kind of summer, Turoa plans to run its ski lifts through the Christmas holiday break. With a record snow base in the 1994 ski season, there was still plenty of snow on the upper field at the time of writing — more than enough for skiing — and with Turoa' s south-westerly aspect even summer skiing provides excellent spring skiing conditions. Lifts operating, snow conditions permitting, will be the Movenpick chair for access, the High Flyer Quad Chairlift, the High Noon T Bar and the top part of the JumboT Bar. Turoa ski hire will be open and ski and snowboard lessons will be available by appointment. Prices will be $36 for adults, $18 for youths (plus free Pepsi)and$10foratouristpass. Skiing starts Boxing Day,

Monday 26 December and runs to Sunday 8 January. There will be a number of events organised for the "Diet Pepsi Summer Festive Season" including volleyball, the Brightstone Giant Jump event on New Year's Eve where a snow ramp will be built and the highest, longest and craziest and most spectacular jump will win prizes. There will also be Brightstone tasting on the Giant Deck.
