Waimarino Golf
Last Thursday afternoon 82 golfers turned up for twilight golf. This would be a record number for twilight. The weather was ideal and the golf excellent. It is very pleasing to see so many non golfers participating. Among the non golfers Lee Akapita with 29 points was way out in front. In second place was Dwayne Marsh and Tim Mitchell with 18. Lee MclLroy 3rd on 17 others to play well were R. Brown, Ricky Arahanga, Mario Mareikura and Grant McMaster. In the ladies Jaqui Williamson again scored well with 22 points. Victoria Johns 2nd on 21,
third Lyn Drinkwater and Dale Knapp. In the junior Graham Lind and J. Morris both scored 23 points. Billy McDonnell 2nd on 22 points, 3rd equal were Brian Dowsett, Willie Wilson and Dean Eades. The scoring in the seniors was just as hot with Trevor Fredrick jun scoring 25 points. To do this he shot a 34 two under par. On 24 points Andrew Whooley was second, James Renata on 23 points was 3rd, Wayne Marsh and Barry Drinkwater both on 22 points. Twos were scored by Don Windle, Miles McNaught and Steve Gray, closest to the pin was Gary Creedy. A reminder that both the team's event and the hole-in-one competition begins this Thursday so get those teams entered. A reminder to anyone who would like to help. Wayne Marsh has a golf week this week with a dozen students : anyone who has a spare moming or afternoon would be most welcome.
