Devilish fun at Scouts
Demons, werewolves, Draculas, headless bodies, old hags, witches and Frankenstein were seen to be running wild in Ohakune recently as the Ohakune Keas, Cubs and Scouts gathered to celebrate Halloween Night. The scouts began on Tuesday night with a turnout of some 40 "nasties from the Netherworld" and a hall decorated with witches on broomsticks, skeletons, pumpkins, giant spiders in even larger webs, a tombstone backdrop, bats and even a "coffin" to set the stage for a fun night. Although "trick or treating" was not permitted, a fair amount of tricking still went on. Onthe Wednesday, some 38 Keas, Cubs and their parents repeated the ghoulish goings-on which was followed by a "monster" barbecue at the back of the "graveyard". Macabre make-up was
the order of the day with huge quantities of fake blood, mixed with some very ingenious costumes, making these two of the most successful nights of the year.
Following this, eight Cubs progressed into the Scout section, while five Keas made the transition up to Cubs. This leaves some vacancies in both sections, so if
you have a young boy or girl aged 6-8 who would like to join Keas then ring Karena Godfrey on 3859028 , or if they are aged 8-10 then ring Margaret Bennellick on 3859-294.
