The possibility of holding a three day 'Carnival of Wheels' in Ohakune next 24, 25, and 26 March is being investigated by the Ruapehu South Business Association. Mr Warrick Funnell of the Wanganui Cycling Federation visited Ohakune last Thursday and told members of the RSB A committee that Ohakune was to be one of the staging stopovers in the Wanganui Masters Games next year. The cyclists would arri ve in Ohakune from Te Awamutu and Tokaanu of Friday 24 March and, after a weekend of local events, would leave for Wanganui to complete the cycle road race on Monday 27 March. j Among the local events planned for Ohakune' s 'Carnival of Wheels' is a 'classic' road race, a criterion sprint, a bike roller race (in the Ohakune Hotel), a farm bike race, a mountain bike race and a go-cart race. A further meeting is to be held in the Ohakune District Council Service Centre this Friday at 3.30pm to discuss the proposed 'Carnival of Wheels' programme in more detail.
