Marae greets Rarotongans

Maungarongo Marae welcomed 'Tauranga Vananga' from Rarotonga last Friday. The group is in New Zealand to trace the migration of the waka from Rarotonga to Aotearoa in the 1300s. Following the descendants of the Aotea waka, the group of eight stayed at the marae in Ohakune, after departing Taiporehenui Marae in Hawera. Next stop was at Kurahaupo waka Levin. An appropriately grand welcome for the visitors was followed by traditional marae hospitality.
