If you thought shop-lifting is confined to older kids then think again. Two fi ve-year olds and a sixyear old were recently caught shop-lifting at the Waiouru Pricecutter. Also caught was a 1 4-yearold. These cases were referred to the police. Waiouru Armed Forces Canteen Council manager John Peden said he wants people to know that shoplifters are being caught due to a new security
system that is "proving its worth in gold." Mr Peden said he wanted to bring shop-lifting to the attention of parents. He said often groups of kids go to the shop after school and in some of these groups pressure is being put upon the young ones to go and steal something. "I'm not interested in who the people are, I just want it known that we are catching offenders and nip it in the bud early," said Mr Peden.
