Skiing success for National Park School

National Park School' s number one ski team have shown that their second-place at the North Island Primary School Championships in September was no fluke. The team of Tom Merrall, Cleo Rothschild, Sarah Thomson and Joe Merrall proved their ability in taking a clean sweep of the recent Taumarunui Schools ski championships held at Whakapapa Ski Field. The team won the One Stop Ski Shop Cup for best team the third year running, as well as cups for the best boy (Tom Merrall) and best girl (Cleo

Rothschild). Tom also won the best primary boy at the North Island Primary School races. The races, organised by Manunui teacher Terry Hemmingson, were held in the Te Heu Heu Valley over three runs of a Giant Slalom course. Other place getters were: Teams - National Park 3, third Turaki 1; Boys 2nd Daniel Taituma National Park, 3rd Joe Merrall National Park; Girls 2nd Aimee Shearer Tongariro High School, 3rdLarrisa Simmen National Park.
