About 30 entrants provided a high standard of competition and entertained the crowds. Entrants came from between Wellington and National Park. Results First place was awarded to Willie Matthews of Wanganui, second place to Ariana Hansen of Taihape and third place went to Roimata Cunningham of Mangaweka. Willie received $1300 prize money for his trouble while Ariana won $900 and Roimata Cunningham won $500. This is the forth time the contest has been held in Waiouru.
