Waimarino to loose Bolger

Having gained National MP and now Prime Minister Jim Bolger as its representative in parliament some years ago, Waimarino is set to loose him as it becomes part of a new Taupo electorate under the new electoral boundaries, released last week. Mr Bolger looks likely to stand in the re-drawn King Country electorate The electorate takes in Ohakune and Raetihi but not Waiouru (remains in Rangitikei), Taumarunui, Turangi and Tokoroa. Its population in 1991 was 52,696, which is up 1 .6 per cent from the new electorate population quota. Its southern and western boundary follows that of the Waimarino Ward of the Ruapehu District, up to southern boundary of the Ohura and Taumarunui wards of the district.
