Into the music business at Ruapehu College

The Ruapehu College held a concert featuring the rap group "Three the Hard Way" last Wednesday . The concert was organised by the Multiple Studies Class. All aspects of the event's organisation were tackled by the class. The class negotiated with the band, organised

publicity which included writing of advertisements, press releases and making signs. Accommodation was arranged for the band at the

Raetihi Marae. Over 260 tickets were sold at the door. The crowd was very enthusiastic, the band responding by inviting people on stage to dance for the final number. Many were fortunate enough to acquire autographs of the band after the gig. Kerri Gibson, the class' s teacher, said "the venue represented the music of the band well - lots of soul." Thanks were expressed to those who helped assist in the production, or provided facilities; the Raetihi Marae, Ohakune Hotel and Paul Stieglbauer amongst others.
