New team at the Hobbit
The Hobbit is a warm friendly restaurant in its eleventh year of operation. With a seating capacity of around sixty and a separate bar area sharing a common fireplace this is a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal. It seems they are working well to achieve that goal — overheard in the foyer was one overseas visitor who said, "that was the best meal I've had in New Zealand." Working together once again as a team are chefs Marcus and Cherie. With a over 20 years of experience between them they are set to provide excellent dining at the Hobbit. The pair have worked together in such places as the Franz Josef glacier so are no strangers to the colder climes. According to Marcus the wellequipped kitchen of the Hobbit allows them to produce exciting fare with the highly experienced staff ensuring service second to none. The
ten dollar main dish being offered weekly should be very popular and Fridays feature steak and seafood. There is a specials blackboard which changes frequently and expect soon to see a menu featuring game and fish, with a separate menu for kids. Cherie, born and raised at Bluff, said she comes from a fishing family so a seafood menu is a must, as is game dishes such as venison medallions. Vegetarian tastes are also catered for. Groups such as wedding parties can also be catered for on request. Special offers the team are planning include a senior citizen's menu, changing each week (to be available Monday to Wednesday). The aim of Garrick and Maureen Workman and the team at the Hobbit is to provide a quality product at a reasonable price. This should appeal to local residents and visitors alike.
