Accidents keep police busy

A Nei Street, Rangataua, property was burgled on Thursday 6 October, after the owner had broken her leg and temporarily moved in with relatives. Offenders entered the residence and stole a microwave oven, heater and wall hanging. A house situated in Seddon Street, Raetihi, was entered sometime on Friday 7 October. Offenders entered via a front door and removed a wallet containing $200 cash from a bedroom. Police enquiries are continuing. Ohakune Police attended a hit and run accident on

State Highway 49, on Friday 7 October. A couple travelling east towards Waiouru were sideswiped by a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The offender cut the corner and scraped down the right side of the other vehicle, smashing a wing mirror, dri ver' s window and denting panels. A front tyre was also burst. The driver of the other vehicle failed to stop and ascertain the extent of damage or injury. Enquiries are continuing.

Railway sheds in Thames Street, Ohakune were broken into sometime on Saturday 8 October. Offenders broke padlocks to gain entry. it is unknown what was taken from the sheds. Police attended a two car collision on the corner of Clyde Street and Raetihi Road on Saturday 8 October. A vehicle travelling to Ohakune from Raetihi failed to heed give way signs at the intersection of Clyde St and Raetihi Road, and side swiped a north-bound vehicle. Charges are likely to be layed against one driver. A chalet in Foyle Street, Ohakune, was broken into some time on Saturday 8 October. Offenders entered through a rear window and broke into locked cupboards. Nil property was stolen in the break-in. A pair of Rossignol skis were stolen from outside the Giant Cafe at Turoa Ski Resort on Saturday 8 October. Ohakune Police attended a vehicle accident that oc-

curred at the T ohunga Road Junction turn-off on Saturday 8 October. The driver of the southbound vehicle failed to negotiate a corner, skidded 90 metres and rolled down an embankment before coming to rest in an adjacent paddock. The occupants managed to crawl clear of the car seconds before it was engulfed in a fire ball. No one was injured. Charges are likely to be layed against the driver of the vehicle. Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Conway and Miro Streets, during the early hours of Sunday morning. One of the occupants received medical treatment

for cuts to his forehead. Enquiries are continuing into the collision. Police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred on the Mountain Road, Ohakune, on Sunday 9 October. Police received a complaint of an incident of dangerous dri ving on the Mountain Road shortly after 4pm. The driver of the vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle but failed to stop and ascertain the extend of damage. Raetihi Pricecutter's in Seddon Street, Raetihi, was broken into overnight Sunday 9 October. A storage area at the rear of the shop was burgled, with 40 loaves of bread and 40 pies stolen.
