I | Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai Draft Conservation Management Strategy (CMS) Tongariro/Taupo Conservancy Pursuant to section 1 7D of the Conservation Act 1987 the Director-General of Conservation has prepared a draft conservation management strategy (CMS) to implement general policies and to establish objectives for the integrated management of natural and historic resources including species within the area known as the Tongariro/ Taupo Conservancy managed by the Department of Conservation under the Conservation Act 1 987, the Reserves Act 1 977, the Wild Animal Control Act 1977 and the New Zealand Walkways Act 1 990 and for recreation, tourism and other conservation purposes. Pursuant to Section 17F of the Conservation Act 1 987 notice is given that the draft CMS is available for inspection between 8am and 4.30pm at the Head Office and all conservancy offices of the Department of Conservation. All interested persons and organisations may make written submissions on this draft CMS on or before Friday, 23 December 1 994 to: RegionalConservator, Department of Conservation, Private Bag, Turangi. If you wish to appear and be heard in support of your submission you must include a request to do so in your submission. Copies of the Draft Conservation Management Strategy may be obtained from the above address at the cost of $20 for Volume One and Two. The Department is holding the following public meetings to present and discuss the CMS, to which all members of the public are invited: Taupo - on 1 8 October at 7.30pm at the Taupo Women's Club Rooms, Roberts Street; T urangi - on 20 October at 7.30pm at the Department of Conservation office, Turanga Place; Owhango - on 26 October at 7.30pm at Owhango Primary School, Ohorere Street; Ohakune - on 27 October at 7.30pm at Ohakune Primary School, 52 Arawa Street and Whakapapa - on 3 November at 7.30pm at Whakapapa Visitors Centre Auditorium, Whakapapa Village.
