Junior ski races a boost to racer potential
Junior skiers aged 14 years and under enjoyed a great day of ski racing at Turoa on Saturday with more than 90 entrants in the two run giant slalom event. Saturday' s race was the final in a three race series and is designed to help develop the potential of New Zealand' s top up and coming ski racers by providing international ski race conditions. The results on Saturday certainly showed there are more Annelise Coberger's and Simon Wi Rutene's on the way through the ranks. The last ten days has seen storms bring over a metre of new snow to Turoa taking the average snow base to over four metres - more than was ever recorded during the record snow year of 1 992.
