Quiet ice work
A Wanganui share broking company has been approached by the Ruapehu South Business Association to look at ways a semi-pub-lic company could be set up to own and operate the proposed Ohakune ice skating rink. RSBA chairman Jeremy Nash told the RSBA committee at their last meeting that, while project instigator Dennis Beytagh had been disappointed there was no concrete progress from the recent public meeting, there had been some quiet progress. He reminded those present that they had managed to find commitment from 1 1 sources, each willing to put up between $2000 and $ 10,000 to make a total of $80,000 for the project. This commitment was found in just 36 hours, he said. Mr Beytagh said with the bad weather the area was
suffering (that week), there was $13,000 per day in potential revenue being lost by not having an ice skating rink.
