Sunday night was the grand singles flnals for the Junior Badminton Club The turn-out of parents and caregivers was very much appreciated. All the players on the night had a good time and everyone adhered to the 'Fair Play' aspect. Results for the night were: Senior girls champion Tania Shields, runner-up Ema Bates, plate Vicki Cranston, runner-up Rebecca Lind; Junior girls champion Kirsty Litt, runner-up Briar, plate Nolana Marsh, runner-up Shelly ; Senior boys champion Dwayne Marsh, runner-up Neil Shanks, plate Rory Pearson, runner-up Mark Goldfinch; Junior boys champion Ben McMaster, runner-up Shiro Brown, plate Sam Weller, runner-up Shannon Litt. Awards for consistent effort and progress were given to: Keri Bates, Mark Evans, Cory Saunders, Tracyanne, Neil Shanks, Justin Evans, Rebecca McMaster. A special award was given to Ema Bates for the most improved player. "Ema is a great sports person, always playing fair, her attitude towards the game and to her fellow competitors is a joy to see on and off the court," said a club spokes-person. Next Sunday will be the final night for Junior Badminton. All parents and caregivers are welcome to join in. Any seniors interested in playing against Turangi on 2 October are asked to contact Jocelyn or Elayne. This Sunday will be the final night for the • seniors. The season will finish with a fun night against Turangi and seniors are asked to bring a plate. A squash-badminton challenge for the seniors may also be organised and Jocelyn or Elayne can be contacted for information on this.
