'How to be a parent' the subject of course

Ruapehu REAP is offering a third Positive Parenting course in the Waimarino for 1 994 — this time an afternoon course. 'P5 Positive Parenting', looks at communication and management skills for parents (and grandparents ) of preschoolers to teenagers.. P5 is a structured programme that helps parents to understand the issues of parenting in a way that allows them to make informed and responsible decisions. P5 does not tell parents what to do - it encourages parents to make their own decisions confidently. Ten sessions cover: Why children misbehave; Confident parenting (& why it's hard to do); How children become responsible for themselves and their behaviour; Communication, mainly listening; Positive ways to improve behaviour; Making agreements; Win the war without a battle (handy hints for the desperate ); Teaching new skills; Teenagers; Issues between parents (sorting out the 'domestics').
