Unidentified lights over Whanganui National Park
Reports of strange lights over the Whanganui National Park have reached the Bulletin. An eye witness told the Bulletin last week that he and his wife and a friend had watched a hovering light over the park for over an hour on Saturday night, 3 September, from their Ameku Road, Raetihi, house. He soberly said it was the second time they had seen the light and that they were puzzled as to what it was. The light was huge in comparison to a star, quite different to the light from a star or planet, with its colour changing. He said when viewed through binoculars it > seemed to have light beams coming off it. m The light moved from side to side and around quit noticeably. He said itstayedroughly ojj tne^ in one area ^TMnuntain fo lnt^
for about half an hour, then quickly sank behind hills, leaving a distinct glow above the hills. While he offered no explanation, he said it "was the weirdest thing I' ve ever seen". He had heard reports of a couple who had been downin the valley and had seen the light and had been concerned enoughtogobackto Jk Raetihi to spend /^r| the night. Sy / H I
