100,000 skiers

Turoa celebrated it's one hundred thousandth customar for the season on 31 August, two days ahead of last year and 15 days earlier than the' 92 season. The lucky skier received a free day pass, lesson and Mumm champagne. August 3 1 saw Turoa' s 16th open day in a row. Joanna Savage, marketing manager for Turoa, attributes the increased attendance to the fine and settled weather we have been experiencing and the improved facilities at Turoa. Some of the upcoming events at Turoa include Yeti's birthday party on 4 September with a Yeti-size cake. Dads can also get involved with an obstacle race to be run in the Wintergarden area. On 7 September there will be the Tip Top Treasure hunt. No doubt there will be a few chilly little fingers with Moro bars and other treasures being hidden under a mountain of snow. Other events include a discount day for drivers of Subaru vehicles on the eleventh and the Powderzone snowboard race dual slalom and freestyle races on the weekend of 17 & 18 September.
