Bridge

There was no bridge on Wednesday 17 August because of the Bledisloe Cup clash and therefore the Ohakune players competing in Taihape on Thursday 18 August for the Rosebowl were more relaxed and as a consequence retained the Rosebowl for another season. On Wednesday 25 August bridge consisted of 20 boards played over five tables. The north-south competition was Won by Betty Hammond and Rita Kaiwhare on 56.7% and in second place, promoted from fourth, were Mark Hays and Bob Tomataroa. In the east-west direction there was no competition for visitors John and Angelique Lennane who finished with an exceptional 70%, well ahead of second place getters Doug and Tephany Bennett on 54.60%.
