The fashion parade planned for the Waiouru Community Centre has been cancelled. Community Services Officer Michelle Elgar said that not one single ticket had been sold. To break even Michelle said 60 tickets needed to be sold. Door to door saies were being contemplated, but as there was absolutely no response it was decided the risk was too great and the show would not go ahead. However other plans for the holiday period are all go with about 20 over 12's abseiling off the Moawhango dam today (Tuesday).
There will be a craft morning this Thursday which will include T-shirt painting, so Michelle says to bring along a white TShirt if you want to have a go. Activities start at 10am and will include an activity table for card making. (Don't forget Fathers Day this Sunday). Some 60 people are head-
ing off for the 'fun in the snow trip' to Whakapapa on 7 September. Michelle said about 25 students are taking advantage of the $25 special learner's package for 16's and under. Phone bookings to Michelle are essential if you decide to take advantage of this trip that leaves the Community Centre at 8.30am.
