Ruapehu marketing plan adopted
The Ruapehu District Council' s Marketing Subcommittee recently adopted the Council' s Marketing Plan for 1994/95. Prepared by Council Marketing Manager Bruce Rollinson the plan reviewed the success of the previous year' s promotional activities and outlined the activities to be undertaken during the current year that included:- □ Continued support of the joint industry summer Marketing Campaign. □ Assistance with the development and expansion of events marketing the Ruapehu Dis-
trict. □ Strengthening marketing activities undertaken in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. □ Improvement of distribution links in both the domestic and international visitor markets. □ Development of a Visitor Monitor Programme to measure the success of on-going promotional activities. One of the major components to achieving the success of marketing the District has been the building of partnerships within the industry and its associated providers, said Mr Rollinson.
Marketing partnerships with ECNZ, the New Zealand Tourism Board, industry operators, the Business Development Board and BP Oil have resulted in a further $135,000 being invested in marketing programmes promoting the District. The subcommittee congratulated the efforts of Bruce Rollinson in preparing the comprehensive document that serves as a blueprint for the council' s marketing activities over the next 12 months. Councillor June Baker was elected chairperson of the Marketing Subcomittee.
