Turtle schmurtle harness Following last week's story about the Ohakune Kindergarten Rip Van Winkle turtle, word has reached us that there is a multi-national company that sells turtle harnesses. An order form from the "Weir Terrace Turtle Hamess Company" (which no doubt has branches in New York, Paris, London, Tokyo and Eketahuna as well as Waiouru)
was sent to the Kindergarten, providing detailed plans of the equipment. The Bulletin can't confirm whether they also sell turtle-neck sweaters - it could be that it takes too many turtles to make one garment. We'll keep you posted as to whether this bit of news is turtle-tongue in cheek or the real soup! And to those folk who told us turtles live in the sea and so the Kindergarten pet must be a tortoise, we have been reassured that it is a fresh-water turtle and that there are no tortoises in New Zealand.
