Really cool chook makes national news

A rather plain-looking feathered resident of a Raetihi address made national news recently when he became frozen to the roof of a car and made the 1 1km drive to Ohakune without the knowledge of the car's occupants. They included owner Selwyn Ward, who was on his way to work at Benchmark Building Supplies on the Saturday after a particularly heavy snowfall the night before. By the time he had driven the distance to Ohakune the bulk of the snow that had settled on the roof had been blown off, revealing the rather reluctant passenger roosting there. Mr Ward was able to extract the chook 's feet (that were still partially frozen to the roof) and deposit it into abox to be liberated at home later in the day. The bird was none the worse for its ordeal and is reported to be in good , health .
