Kiwi Host course for front line ski staff

Eighteen of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts' new recruits underwent a day-long Kiwihost training course, held at the Skotel. Co-ordinator/leader, Christine Burrow, put the group through its paces and at the end of the day handed out certificates and lapel pins to all the trainees. The training course at the Skotel was the eighth for RAL staff this season. Other Kiwihost courses were held in Ohakune with further sessions at Whaka- • papa. The Kiwihost courses are designed to be a fun learning experience, with an emphasis on interaction and feedback between leader and trainees. The Super Service course is a one-day follow-on to Kiwihost, aimed to extend and accentuate those skills already learned. The ultimate aim is to instill frontline staff with the skills required to provide 'Knock Your Socks Off service to customers. Taupo-based tutor Christine co-ordinates Kiwihost and Super Service courses in Taupo, coordinates and leads courses in Turangi, and leads courses elsewhere in the district. "All in all it adds up to a full-time job", she said.

With a background in retail and tourism, and a tutor at the Turangi

Wairakei Polytech for four years, Christine is well qualified for the position.
