Cover-up in National Park boost to community
There' s a big cover up underway in the community of National Park, but it's good news all the way. Robert Dickinson, an ex-Aucklander with over 20 years' upholstery experience, recently opened the doors of his new business, 'Ruapehu Furniture Company' , in the former Carroll Street butchery. The recently renovated shop premises, complete with a tiny showroom and equally small rear workshop, is perfect for Mr Dickinson' s purposes. Two lounge settees covered in examples of Mr Dickinson' s premium grade fabrics jostle for position with the huge range of fabric samples that adorn the showroom. Polyproplene, draylon and jacquard fabrics take equal billing with leather samples. Alternately customers are invited to submit their own choice of material for sewing. Business is booming for the company that already has
a stack of orders from local ski chalets and accommodation premises, after only one week of operation. As well as upholstering lounge and dining suites (and anything else that can be re-covered), the company also sells ready-made suites that can be selected from their catalogue range or even made-to-order from a photograph. No job is too big or too small according to Mr Dickinson, who has big plans for the little business and already offers a pick up and delivery service to his local clientele. The potential markets of Raetihi and Ohakune have also come under scrutiny, with Mr Dickinson intending to extend his business in the near future. A free quote is included in his service.
