Taupo contractor takes over rubbish collection

Refuse collection in the Ruapehu region has been awarded to a T aupo contractor who took over operations as of yesterday. Stuart Walker' s contract is for a five year/eight month period. Residents will notethat the collection truck is acompactor type, similar to those used in larger urban areas. The contractor will collect a maximum of five refuse bags from a residence or business each week. Any excess collection or other special requirements will need to be arranged with the collection contractor prior to collection. The service includes collecting litter from street verges and residents are reminded not to leave articles on the road verge that they wish to retain as they run the risk of having it removed with the | rubbish.
