Speed camera

Close to 3000 vehicles were checked by speed camera in Ohakune on the weekend. Of this number 1,330 were travelling in excess of the speed limit, with 196 of that number issued speeding infringement notices. The majority of those detected were travelling in excess of 70km/h in a builtup area. Police officials say there is nopossible justification for that type of speed and Ohakune will continue to be visited repeatedly by the speed camera unituntil such time as there is a noticable drop in speeds.
