• A 37-year old Ohakune man was arrested for domestic assault, assault on a Police Officer and resisting police. The incidents happened on Friday 8 July. He will appear in the Ohakune District Court on Thursday 14 July. • Overnight Tuesday 5 July a vehicle parked outside a Miro Park address was vandalised. Offenders gained entry through a rear door window and removed a CD player and charge card. • A Thames Street, Ohakune, address was burgled sometime between 29 June and 5 July. Taken were two Wharfdale E60 speakers and a large case containirig three speaker cones. • Three coils of wire, a reel and standards to an elec-
tric fence were taken frorn Shorts Hill, Raetihi. The entire fence spanned approximately 160 metres. The property was taken sometime between 2-4 July. • Between 12pm- lpm on 3 July, a Burton Asym Air snowboard was taken from outside Yeti' s Cafe at Turoa Ski Resort. • Between lam-2.30am on Thursday 7 July, a K2 Farmer black snowboard was taken from a locked vehicle at a Tyne Street, Ohakune, address. • A Miro Street, Ohakune, residence was .entered at around lpm on Wednesday 6 July. The occupant of the house was home at the time. No property was taken. • A World Yak mountain bike, coloured metallic green, was taken from the porch of a Ballance Street, Raetihi, residence sometime between 9-10 July. • A 24-year old Taupo man was apprehended by Waimarino Police on a charge of cannabis possession on Sunday 1 0 July . The offender offered to make a voluntary donation to a Taupo community charity. • Witnesses to an assault on a patron at the
Powderkeg Inn on Friday 8 July are being sought by Police. A glass was smashed over the head of a patron by an offender who has been identified to Police. • A 4-year old Raetihi girl was lucky to escape with minor grazes after falling in front of a car outside Ohakune New World last week. The youngster was attempting to cross the street with two older girls but tripped and fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver who was badly shaken by the episode, managed to stop short of the child. Waimarino Police are urging parents . of young children to take extreme care when negotiating road crossings during the ski season, especially during peak traffic flows - normally after 4pm when the skifield closes. • Over the weekend Police attended a considerable number of accidents involving people driving beyond their abilities in icy conditions. With the weather bureau predicting much of the same for the next few days motorists are reminded to drive carefully and only go out if necessary.
