Late road works no more

Work starting on reconstruction of Foyle Street, Ohakune, started either too late or too early, Waimarino Community Board chairman Colin Webb said at the board's July meeting. He said the work should not have been started until after the busy ski season or should have been finished well before. He also criticised the work on the Ruapehu Road bridge, which is now almost two months past its completion date. Now was the busiest time of the year for one

carrot grower who normally uses the bridge. Area engineer Don Sattler said all W aimarino contracts would in future be brought forward to be completed no later than March. Other areas causing concern included Pipiriki-Raetihi Road which Mr Webb said was in a bad state. He said gravel was piled up in the centre of the road causing problems and damage to cars.
