Committee change for Rotary
A new line-up of committee members were elected at the Raetihi-Ohakune Rotary 's recent Annual General Meeting, held at the Ruapehu Hotel in Raetihi. Leading the club for the 1 994/95 term is David Latimer, nominated to the position of president. Other committee members are: Keith Leary (vice-president and director of club services), Jeremy Nash (secretary), Harry Brown (treasurer), Andrew Jourdain (publicity officer), Gary Johnson (bulletin editor), Ian Penny (vocation international), Bill Peach (outdoor projects director), and Jim Bennett (community services director). Rotary' s Sergeant At Arms is Waimarino constable Steve Hart. The position involves collecting fines for misdemeanours (both real and imagined) incurred by Rotary members, with the funds going into the club's 'Sunshine Fund', to assist needy families and individuals in the area. A load of firewood, the remains of the town's Easter wood-chopping competition, is also in line to be distributed amongst the community, this time to the elderly residents. Rotary' s outdoor projects committee, formed just this year, aims to promote the Waimarino as a holiday venue for members of Rotary clubs nationwide. Rotary president David Latimer said one of the club's main aims this year is to raise its profile in the community and continue to support a wide range of community projects.
