Ski radio to stay
Ruapehu's winter radio station SKI FM based in Ohakune will be on air Saturday as origirially planned, station owner Dave Campbell told the Bulletin yesterday. A press release outlining the merger of the station with Mountain Radio' s new Ohakune station Peak FM was distributed last week. Mr Campbell said the release was premature. He said there had been an agreement reached regarding a possible merger but that it was subject to a number of conditions which later could not be met. "Following a visit to Ohakune it became clear that our major clients would prefer that Ski FM continued to operate on a stand-alone basis," said Mr Campbell. He said at the end of the day the merger was not possible.
Mr Campbell said the release put out by Peak FM which was published in the Wanganui
Chronicle and the Ruapehu Snow Bulletin was to have been a joint press release. ^
Peak FM general manager Ron Jeffares asked that the press
release be withdrawn on Friday but by that stage it had al-
ready been p u b - ^ lished.
