Lottery grant benefits OPC
A $ 1 .25 million Lottery grant has been awarded to the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre, near Turangi. The money will be used to complete Stages 3 and 4 of OPC's building redevelopment programme which includes the construction of student accommodation units, student dining/kitchen/lounge facilities and an administration building. The initial stages of the redevelopment, which began in 1986, attracted Lottery grants totalling $600,000. The facility is one of the country ' s leading providers of quality outdoor educational experience. Sir Edmund Hillary has been patron of OPC since it was established by Graeme Dingle in 1972.
