Police still seek Raetihi robber
Waimarino Police are investigating the robbery of the BNZ Bank in Seddon Street, Raetihi, on Friday 24 June. A person entered the bank shortly before 3.30pm. He threatened the branch's two female tellers with a handgun before absconding with $7,400 in cash. After leaving the bank the offender ran up Seddon Street towards the Pipiriki Road. The offender was described as a male Maori, or part Maori, 5' 8", with hazel/green eyes. He was wearing a black woollen hat, blue hooded tracksuit top with white writing on the front, dark coloured skivvy , grey track pants and white sport shoes. A Police spokesperson said that initial enquiries have revealed that the offender may not be local to the area. Police would like to hear from anyone in or near the Raetihi BNZ between 3. 1 5pm-3.35pm on Friday 24 June, whether or not they think they can assist.
