Mountain magic at Creche

There's something magical about the Whakapapa Creche. Libby Avery, the Wizard's Club supervisor for the duration of the 1994 ski season, with assistant supervisor Melissa Parfitt, are committed to making every child's visit to Whakapapa a special one. Libby who hails from Auckland, graduated from the Rangiruru Nanny School in Christchurch before an eight month stint as supervisor at an Auckland creche. Melissa, formerly of Christchurch, is also fully qualified. The creche operates this year at above the govemment ratio, with four staff in attendance. The purpose-built facility which caters for up to 30

children aged 2-6 years features a comprehensive indoor and outdoor play area. A 'quiet corner', dressing up and dolls corner and areas set aside for creativity with paint and dough are features of the indoor area. Sculpture in snow Outside on the enclosed verandah children can indulge in water play on fine days, or snow sculpting when the conditions allow. The Whakapapa Creche is open daily, with child care provided on an hourly basis, or the full day. Bookings are preferred and parents intending to ski during the school holidays are advised to book now, as places are limited to 30 children.
