OHAKUNE DISTRICT COURT

The following cases were heard by Judge Richard Watson in the Ohakune District Court last Thursday. Police-sergeant Bob Evans of Ohakune appeared for the prosecution. Prison sentence Robert Daniel Edmonds, 28, shedhand of Raetihi, appeared for sentence on two charges of wilful damage and one of assaulting a female to which he had pleaded guilty last month. Edmonds had assaulted his de-facto partner when he discovered that the pork chops which he had expected to find in the fridge when he returned home from the pub were missing. The victim impact re-

port indicated severe bruising all over her body. The charges of wilful damage occurred when Edmonds went to his defacto 's brother's house in search of the missing pork chops. In sentencing Edmonds to four months imprisonment on the assault charge Judge Watson described the attack as "drunken, unprovoked, vicious and violent". On the tw.o wilful damage charges Edmonds was convicted and discharged when it was learnt that he had already made reparation.
