First snow day
Whakapapa staff were busy shovetUng snow on their first day open on Saturday f but Zane Schwamm wasn't too busy to give Kristi Jenkins, (nearly two) from Tokoroa, a ride on ihe snow scoop. Kristi and family were visiting Happy Valtey for a birthday treat. Whakapapa's first day saw about 700 people take to the sunny slopes of Happy Valley and Te Heu Heu Valley T Bar. Meanwhile the official line from Turoa is that they hope to open before the end of June. Unofficial sources have it that they may open Wednesday, but this looksdependent on whether the new quad chair is ready tooperate. Although the High Noon T Bar is looking good, the Butletin understands that there is no beglnner - Intermediate skling available untll more snow falls, or the quad is operational. The cable was put in plaee on the new llft iast week, not by helicopter as reported on radio, but from the ground. J
