Ruapehu College Rugby
Ruapehu 1st and 2nd XV' s have continued their
unbeaten runs over the last two weeks. On 4 June both teams had easy wins over collegiate from Wanganui, the 1st XV winning 63-0 and the 2nds winning 60-0. On Saturday 11 June both college teams travelled to Marton for games against Rangitikei College. The 1st XV encountered their biggest opposition yet with some monster sized boys in their team. However Ruapehu used the better fitness and speed to good effect to move the ball around and tire their oppo-
nents. Scoring three tries in each half, Ruapehu College ran out comfortable winners 38-10. A good display of teamwork and discipline. Congratulations to Justin Teki who won the player of the day award with his best game of the season. The 2nd XV also met a much bigger team and had their hardest game of the season. Play was very competitive in the first half, with the only points going to Ruapehu with a try to Campbell Crossan.
Rangitikei kept improving and although behind on points, looked the better team at half time. Ruapehu lifted their work rate in the 2nd half and played their most committed rugby of the season. Ruapehu narrowly missed chances to score as did Rangitikei. The game finished with Ruapehu doggedly defending their goal line and just managed to keep the opposition scoreless. Final score 5-0 to Ruapehu.
