New regional councillor
Christopher Joseph Lester has been elected as a member for the Ruapehu Constituency of the Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council. He was elected unopposed. The vacancy arose as a result of Councillor Middleton' s death in early March. Mr Lester has a farming background and li ves on his farm in Taumarunui. He is currently the president of the meat and wool section of Federated Farmers Ruapehu Province, and a member of the Executive of the Meat and Wool Council of New Zealand. Mr Lester will be sworn in at the next meeting of the regional council on 21 June 1994.
