• Overnight Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June the Waimarino Museum in Seddon Street, Raetihi was burgled. Entry was gained at the rear of the premises, with offenders using an old wooden step ladder to reach a boarded-up window. Offenders simply smashed their way through the boards allowing entry, said police. The step ladder does not belong to the Museum. Property stolen included old pocket watches, gramophone needles, old docks, a knife cleaning machine and a gold coloured telescope. Police said the knife cleaning machine is unable to be used because offenders forgot to remove a powder which must be used with its operation All property had been donated by Waimarino locals over the years. The police would like to hear from anyone who may have lost a wooden step ladder coloured white, or who may have information which could lead to the recovery of the property, phone Constable Dave Nimmo, Ohakune Police 3858 551. • At 8pm on Saturday night a barman at the Ohakune Hotel public bar was assaulted. The offender is known to police who are continuing with their enquiries. • Overnight Sunday the Waimarino Veterinary Clinic in Seddon Street was broken into. The offenders jemmied open a window to gain entry into one room. They removed desk draws and a shelving unit, which were later recovered outside. Taken were metal pins for setting broken legs of animals.
