Council company chief resigns
The Chairman of Ruapehu Construction Limited (RCL), Garrick Workman announced today the resignation of John Murrihy, the company' s chief executive. 'The Board of RCL was saddened to be advised of Mr Murrihy' s resignation at the Board meeting held on Tuesday ,3 1 May" said Mr Workman "and it has been received with sincere regret". Mr Murrihy joined the Ruapehu District Council as Operations Director on amalgamation in 1989. He was previously the District Manager of the Waimarino District Council. He managed the Operations Business Unit and was appointed Chief Executive of RCL when the Company was established in 1991. A qualified lawyer Mr Murrihy' s legal knowledge as well as his local govemment experience has been a valuable asset to both the Council and the Company. "The decision to resign wqs not an easy one', said Mr Murrihy, "however, I believe that it is. time to make a change in the direction of my career which will also enable me to spend more time with my young family. My family has been very understanding of the small amount of
quality time that I have been able to spend with them. I am currently in the process of concluding an agreement for the purchase of a small business which my wife, Lesley, and I will jointly operate".
