Ohakune School calls for BoT nominations
Nominations for two places on the Ohakune Primary School Board of Trustees close Thursday next week, with none received so far but some interest expressed. The positions have become vacant following the resignation of chairman Wayne Marsh, due to other commitments, and Rose Pepere who is leaving the district. The role of the Board of Trustees is set out in a booklet available at the school. In brief the role is: □ To be responsible for the overall governance of the school which means responsibility for property, personnel, the over-view of school finances and reporting to the Audit Office and the school community. □ To establish school policy in consultation with the principal, staff and school community. □ To support the principal in the management role.
□ To select the principal and approve staff appoint- , ments. □ To fulfil the role as a good employer. □ To ensure the school communicates effectively with its community. Also included in the booklet is a code of conduct which boards of trustees members must adhere to; plus job descriptions of the various positions on boards. Nominees have been asked to present profiles of themselves for publication in a school newsletter and in the Bulletin.
