Council calls for comment on annual plan
The Ruapehu District Draft Annual Plan for 1994/95' was released at a meeting of councillors and councill officers in Ohakune Wednesday 18 May. The purpose of the release of the draft is to obtain public response and submissions in a process of consultation before the proposals are adopted at a special meeting to be held in Taumarunui on 29 June 1994. Submissions in writing are invited from the public - either from individuals or organisations - and must be in the hands of Council no later than 4.00pm Friday 24 June. Copies of the 1994/95 Draft Annual Plan are available for inspection at all Ruapehu District Council Service Centres and all public libraries within the district. Copies of the 67-page draft are available for $1 1. Cr Bob Peck said at the meeting that copies should be made available free of charge so that no person was disadvantaged if they could not afford to pay for a copy. It was pointed out that several copies of the draft would be on display at district libraries. Only one other councillor, John Compton, supported Mr Peck in his motion. All households in the Waimarino should also receive a Council publication called Ruapehu News in which Mayor Garrick Workman invites submissions from ratepayers and the general public on any matters concerning the 1 994/ 95 Draft Annual Plan.
