Turoa Tumblers

The competition squad of the Wanganui Motors Turoa Tumblers gymnastics club had their first competition for the season in Wanganui on 8 May. This year the squad is down in numbers but all members of the team competed well. Donna Deadman was the best of the Level 3 girls with 38.90 points followed closely by Krystal Abbott on38.10. JackieLaurenson and Samantha Roberts in their first competitive outing also performed creditably both scoring 8.05 on the floor routine. In the Level 4 grade Fiona Lynch led the team home with a five routine total of 40.27. Nolana Marsh scored 39.52 and Rebecca Lind scored 38.92 to complete a good first competition. The next competition for the Turoa Tumbler Falcons is on 4 June, also in Wanganui. Recreational gymnastics has started again for Term 2. Session times are Tuesday afternoons 3.30pm until 5pm at Ruapehu College. Parents are invited to see what gym can do for their chi Idren . At last year' s senior prizegiving at Ruapehu College 13 of the 17 recipients of sports prizes were current or former Turoa Tumblers proving once again what a great basis for any sport that gymnastics provides, claims the club. Maori All BlackAllen Prince is a former Turoa Tumbler.
