Ohakune 27, Taihape Pirates 5: Ohakune had a convincing win over Taihape at home on Saturday, in atrocious weather. Two penalty goals by Lachlan Harding gave Ohakune a narrow 6-5 lead at half-time. Other players to impress included resident Fijians, winger Joe Seru and lock Joe Cokalbusa, as well as first five Ray Brown. Prop Tom Rawiri scored one for Ohakune, with Darren Norling and Joe Seru scoring the other tries.

Utiku Old Boys 25, Raetihi 6: Full-back Thomas Waara played a strong debut game for Raetihi and landed two penalties. Raetihi remained scoreless at half-time but came back in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Impressing in the Raetihi side were Thomas Waara, Brendon Cavanagh, Robert Grossart and Adam Hinana.
