Time for more play in Waiouru
By Michele Monaghan Waiouru Playgroup now runs two sessions each week to keep up with the demand of a full roll. An extra session has been introduced and now Playgroup meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Waiouru
Community Centre starting at 10.00am. The Waiouru playgroup has a roll of 30, but that doesn't mean more mothers aren't welcome says Monique Corney, an active participant in the group. The playgroup is moni-
tored through the Rural Education Activities Programme (REAP) who provide assistance for the setting up of playgroups in rural areas. Christine O'Riley has provided this help for Waiouru. Christine says there are only about 1 3
REAP programmes in New Zealand. New toys have been purchased with the help of a
government grant as well as cash from the drop-in centre. Paints and more toys will be bought next term.
