Jetty for Taupo prawn people
Wairakei' s Prawn Park now has a jetty to accommodate the growing demand for adventure activities based in the Wairakei Park, north of Taupo. This is the beginning of 'Prawn Park's' 40-hectare development, planned to go ahead on the northern side of the Wairakei Geothermal Power Station. Huka Jet Limited and the African Queen Riverboat, will be embarking and disembarking at the new jetty. The jetty was officially opened on Sunday 17 April by Lotto personality Hilary Timmins, who has been actively involved promoting the Taupo region with Taupo Winterfest. The day ' s activities also involved a preview of the newly named 'Prawn Works Bar-n'-Grill' menu before it was introduced to customers on 1 May.
