Ohakune trounces Raetihi
Waimarino's annual grudge rugby match between rivals Ohakune and Raetihi provde a one-sided afair on Saturday, while Waiouru won in a scrappy game against Utiku. Ohakune-Karioi v Raetihi Ohakune-Karioi 69, Raetihi 0 Ohakune' s Fijian rugby players Joe Seru and Josala Cokalbusa impressed during Saturday' s match at home against Raetihi. Joe opened the scoring with an impressive try and tackled well, with Cokalbusa showing good form in the forwards. Ohakune held a 22-0 lead over Raetihi at half time. It wasn't until 14 minutes into the second half that Ohakune scored again, while Raetihi tried hard but without success to score. Ohakune-Karioi 69 (Hemi Mareikura 2, Joe Seru, Tom Rawiri, RichardLindsay, Riwaru Tihema, Howard Gordon, ; Mario Mareikura, Chris Vine, Joe Cokalbusa tries; Gordon 8 conversions, Ray Brown drop goal. Raetihi 0. Waioru v Utiku OB Waiouru 17, Utiku OB 13. In being a little more enterprising in the backs Waiouru thoroughly deserved its win over Utiku. It was a scrappy game, with some ill-disciplined play from both sides, leading to the ordering-off of lock Paul Morice, for stomping. The Waiouru pack however, produced some good driving play in the second half. Andre Renata impressed in the W aiouru forwards, as did Solly Sollitt and Paul Haslam in the backs.
