College link courses popular

Eight senior Ruapehu College pupils were taught the finer points of panel beating and spray painting by Ohakune tradesman John Anderson, during a recent Link course. Mr Anderson' s panel-beating workshop became classroom for the group during a 35-hour course that taught basic skills involved in the trade. Part of the course involved restoring a vehicle brought in by a client, in a "rough" condition. The group stripped mouldings, bumpers, headlights and all trims, before applying a new coat of primer and top coat. The final step included cutting and polishing, and wet-waxing. Mr Anderson said he was impressed with the integrity the pupils displayed to the course, and the professional end result.
